DESCRIPTION OF BUSINESS:
Children’s Hunger Alliance is a statewide nonprofit organization dedicated to ending childhood hunger in Ohio. More than one in five children in Ohio live in food-insecure homes – which means they are not sure where their next meal will come from. Children need regular access to nutritious food to fuel their growing minds and bodies. Food-insecure children are more likely to experience poor health and learning challenges. Children’s Hunger Alliance organization works to give them a healthier childhood and a chance at a brighter future.
Children’s Hunger Alliance works with child care providers, local schools and community partners such as libraries, parks and recreation centers and faith-based organizations as well as the USDA and Ohio Department of Education to provide food-insecure children with the nutritious meals they need to thrive. They focus on five key areas: early childhood nutrition, afterschool meals and snacks, school breakfast expansion, summer meal expansion and educating children and child care providers on nutrition and physical education.
Founded in 1970, Children’s Hunger Alliance serves all regions of Ohio with 63 staff members at their Columbus home office and regional offices in Cincinnati, Cleveland and Toledo.
