What do you like about doing business in Ohio?Ohio is a friendly state rich with cultural, economic, and historical importance. Great food, music, arts, parks and cultural events make Ohio a strong living environment. Workforce development efforts, and employers who enhance their workforce by hiring persons with disabilities, make Ohio a great place to do business.
Description of business:Linking Employment, Abilities and Potential (LEAP) has been serving persons with disabilities in Northeast Ohio for 35 years. Disabilities are most often caused by injury or health conditions like heart disease, cancer, stroke, respiratory diseases, and sensory loss, to name a few. Approximately one in four people have conditions that fall into this category; everyone knows of someone with a disability. People with disabilities want to live with their family, attend the neighborhood school, use the same bus as their friends, work in meaningful jobs, have access to affordable housing and healthcare, and raise families.
LEAP’s mission is to advance a society of equal opportunity for all persons, regardless of disability. Their goal is to help level the playing field for their family members, friends, neighbors and co-workers with disabilities so they can live, learn, work, and play in the community of their choice.
Through the key areas of community living, employment, and access to benefits and supportive services, LEAP's programs assist more than 1,700 people a year to live in the community, enter or rejoin the workforce, and receive services that help them overcome barriers, so they can enjoy greater independence, self-sufficiency, and quality of life.
