WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT DOING BUSINESS IN OHIO?
Our organization is built upon “The Golden Rule” and Ohio epitomizes that philosophy. Our state is home to passionate sports fans and thriving, innovate businesses and communities with a social responsibility that embraces diversity and progress, while never losing sight of its honest, hard-working blue-collar roots.
DESCRIPTION OF BUSINESS:
The National Hockey League awarded an expansion franchise to Columbus in 1997 and the Blue Jackets hit the ice for the first time in 2000. Ohio’s only NHL team, the Blue Jackets have become one of the league’s most exciting, young teams in recent years, ranking fourth in the NHL in wins between 2016-18. During the 2016-17 season, the club put together a 16-game winning streak that fell one shy of matching the longest streak in the NHL’s 100-year history.
With a signature replica Civil War-era cannon that blasts after every Jackets’ goal, diverse and delicious food and beverage offerings, friendly staff, the world’s fastest sport and a passionate fan base known as “The 5th Line,” attending a Blue Jackets game at Nationwide Arena has been nationally recognized as one of the best “Game Day Experiences” in professional sports.
The team has been the catalyst in the unprecedented growth of youth and amateur hockey in Central Ohio over the past 20 years, while its unwavering commitment to improving lives in the community through the Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation has resulted in the investment of more than $9.3 million in central Ohio to support youth health and wellness initiatives.
