WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT DOING BUSINESS IN OHIO?
My parents immigrated to Columbus in the late 70's in pursuit of "The American Dream." They met some great people and ultimately made a name for themselves in Franklinton. Because of the great people of our state, our business has grown year after year! Our customer loyalty is what has ultimately made our business thrive. We take pride in knowing our customers by name and we are proud to call many of them our friends.
DESCRIPTION OF BUSINESS:
My parents (Tom and Kathy) opened the diner on July 10, 1989. We are a family-owned and operated diner that uses old recipes to make great meals. We pride ourselves on using fresh products and making everything from scratch. We only serve breakfast and lunch and are closed in the evenings.
When we opened in Franklinton in 1989, it wasn't exactly a thriving time. But over the years, the city was revitalized and we have felt a direct impact to our business. We have gained a reputation of having all types of customers, from local politicians taking their usual spots at the counter, to construction guys getting a quick bite to eat.
Because of this, we've been a hot spot for both local and national media. We've had live shows taped at our diner for "Good Morning America," "The CBS Early Show,"CNN, etc.
Our charitable work includes donating a piece of land to Franklinton Gardens, where they grow and provide vegetables to the neighborhood. Currently, we are selling pink Tommy's Diner shirts and giving all proceeds to the Heather Pick Memorial Fund for breast cancer research (she used to be a regular customer).
