October 2012

This October we are profiling companies around Ohio that have found a great recipe for success in our “All-American Diners” theme. Tommy’s Diner, in Franklin County, was started by Greek immigrants pursuing “The American Dream” and has since been a hot spot for local and national media attention, all while making everything on their menu from scratch. Yours Truly Restaurants, in Cuyahoga County, are owned by four siblings, all born and raised in Ohio, and was voted “Best Family Dining” by Cleveland Magazine. Pleasant Ridge Chili, in Hamilton County, has been serving up its signature dish, French fries cheese and gravy, since 1964 and is now run by its third-generation owner. Goodwin’s Family Restaurant, in Pickaway County, was the state award winner for the National Restaurant Association’s Good Neighbor Award and has grown so rapidly it is being remodeled for the third time. Diner 23 LLC, in Pike County, has become a meeting place for locals and travelers alike; and with numerous local politicians frequenting the location, you never know who you might run into for lunch. Spot Restaurant, in Shelby County, got its start over 100 years ago as “The Chuckwagon” and has been serving loyal patrons fresh and homemade comfort food ever since. Starliner Diner, in Franklin County, offers customers an eclectic menu served by friendly and knowledgeable staff, and everyone needs to check out their one-of-a-kind murals. All across the state, Ohioans who are looking for good food, great friends and an entertaining story or two, certainly don’t need to look any farther than these local neighborhood diners.
