WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT DOING BUSINESS IN OHIO?
Our family has roots in Ohio dating back to the 1920's. It was important for us to build a business in the state in which we were born and raised. The City of Mentor is very supportive of our company and we are proud to be an Ohio business
DESCRIPTION OF BUSINESS:
We are a veteran-owned manufacturer of precision parts for the aerospace, defense, aircraft, locomotive, and medical industries. Our company is certified to AS 9100B with ISO 9001:2008 and FAA Part 145.
In 1992, we started an Exploring program to get kids involved in the manufacturing industry. Our "Cannons of Fredon" program has had over 400 students working with our top machinists to learn blueprint reading, machining and assembly. Each student creates a scale model (non-firing) cannon which they get to keep at the end of the program.
Several years ago, we founded the AWT (Alliance for Working Together) to encourage local manufacturers to work together to promote careers in manufacturing. The AWT and Lakeland Community College created an Associate's Degree in Applied Science, Advanced Manufacturing (offered at LCC Fall, 2011). In 2010, we started the AWT RoboBots (NRL-sanctioned) program to show high school students the "wow" in manufacturing (and hopefully feed the pipeline with future employees). This year we have 24 teams - each working with a manufacturing company sponsor, to design and build a 15 lb combat robot. The second annual AWT RoboBots Competition will be April 28, 2012 at Lakeland Community College.
