WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT DOING BUSINESS IN OHIO?

The Ohio Energy Project proudly serves Ohio schools, teachers and students through education on energy conservation and efficiency, the science of energy and the environmental impact of energy use. Through partnerships with Ohio’s energy industries, universities and state/local organizations, OEP provides training and resources at no cost to Ohio schools.

DESCRIPTION OF BUSINESS:

The Ohio Energy Project’s (OEP) mission is to facilitate students’ and teachers’ understanding of the science of energy and its efficient use to empower the next generation of energy consumers.

OEP, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, has been serving teachers, students, families and business partners for over 30 years. As Ohio’s leading energy education experts, they provide complete, objective, and comprehensive information on:

 •     Energy efficiency and conservation
 •     Sources and forms of energy
 •     Economic and environmental impact of energy use
 •     Careers in the energy industry

Providing excellent professional development for Ohio science teachers is the core of OEP’s mission. Programs are always no cost to teachers and provide schools with curriculum and lab equipment.

OEP is committed to leadership and a founding philosophy of “Kids Teaching Kids.” OEP conducts Youth Energy Summits for middle and high school students on leadership, communication skills, and hands-on energy activities. These student leaders, in turn, teach elementary students in their communities and across the state.

In 2008, OEP introduced energy efficiency education and expanded their outreach to “Kids Teaching Families.” Each year 43,000 students receive an efficiency kit and install energy saving measures in their homes. Annually, 125,000 family members are impacted with potential energy savings over 100,000 megawatt/hours.
