Hot Chicken Takeover

WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT DOING BUSINESS IN OHIO?

Ohio and Columbus in particular, has an engaged, supportive community that wants to see small businesses succeed and thrive. From the first day of Hot Chicken Takeover's inception, the community support has been overwhelming and is a direct contributor to our growth and success. – Joe DeLoss

DESCRIPTION OF BUSINESS:

Hot Chicken Takeover (HCT) founder Joe DeLoss was always focused on creating a business that would generate social impact. After a quick trip to Nashville with his wife, he fell in love with hot chicken and decided to bring it to Columbus with the goal of being a fair chance employer. The company started as a pop-up location on weekends and grew into a food truck business. Shortly after, HCT landed a brick-and-mortar spot in the historic North Market. In 2017 the company had one location with 35 employees and by the end of the year, grew to 150 employees and three locations with more on the horizon. As a fair chance employer, HCT offers fair consideration to anybody who applies whether they've been incarcerated, suffered homelessness, or faced other barriers to employment resulting in a retention rate that is 4x better than the industry average. HCT’s menu has earned numerous awards, most recently Food Truck of the Year (’15, ’16) Best Comfort Food (’17, ’18) and is the most-reviewed restaurant on Yelp in the state of Ohio.
