Akron RubberDucks

WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT DOING BUSINESS IN OHIO?

We aim to bring affordable family fun for residents in and around the Akron area to bring not only the game of baseball to the city of Akron, but entertainment for all ages as well.

DESCRIPTION OF BUSINESS:

The Akron RubberDucks are the Double-A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians. The franchise relocated to Northeast Ohio from Vermont in 1989, playing as the Canton-Akron Indians in Canton’s Thurman Munson Stadium. In 1997, the franchise moved into the newly-built Canal Park in downtown Akron and was renamed the Akron Aeros in honor of the state’s history in the fields of space and aeronautics, as well as to honor Akron native Judith A. Resnik, who died in the 1986 Space Shuttle Challenger disaster. The franchise was acquired by Ken Babby following the 2012 season. Upon the completion of the the 2013 season, the franchise made an identity change to the Akron RubberDucks to connect with Akron’s long-standing history in the tire industry and its moniker as the “Rubber Capital of the World.” Many of the great Cleveland Indians of the 1990’s World Series teams and the stars in the years since have played for the franchise, including 2018 Baseball Hall of Famer Jim Thome, Cy Young winners Corey Kluber, CC Sabathia and Cliff Lee, as well as all-stars such as Manny Ramirez, Bartolo Colon and Victor Martinez. Current Cleveland stars who have been with Akron include Francisco Lindor, Jose Ramirez, Mike Clevinger and Bradley Zimmer.

Not only does the stadium host minor league baseball games, they also host various events like concerts, movie nights, Akron marathon, and private events too which are available for renting in their ballparks Duck Club. They strive for affordable family fun so people of all ages can enjoy themselves at Canal Park!
