The Dayton Power and Light Company
WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT DOING BUSINESS IN OHIO?
Proudly for over 100 years, DP&L has been delivering safe, reliable and sustainable energy solutions to the Miami Valley and West Central Ohio. At DP&L, we are more than an electric utility. We power the lives of Ohio people in the communities we serve. We demonstrate this in many ways - investments in education, workforce development, job creation, and efforts like the Gift of Power that support our neighbors when they need us the most.
DESCRIPTION OF BUSINESS:
The Dayton Power and Light Company (DP&L) serves 515,000 customers with a service territory spanning 6,000 square miles in 24 counties across West Central Ohio.
In building a culture of safety and reliability at DP&L, we engage our team at all levels of the organization – from management, to our field workers and contractors. It is part of every phase of our operation and it is part of every employee’s responsibility at all levels. Consistently, DP&L exceeds reliability standards set by the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO).
In total, DP&L has invested more than $5.1 billion in overall infrastructure in the Miami Valley, including significant investments in programs for the environment. DP&L has recently donated hundreds of trees to neighborhoods and residents to encourage utility-friendly planting through our Right Tree, Right Place program. We constructed the largest utility-owned solar array in South West Ohio, and together with AES, our parent company, built the first advanced energy storage facility in the state. By testing renewable energy sources, installing electric vehicle charging stations, we make our region a cleaner, more environmentally-friendly place for us all.
Supporting Our Communities
DP&L and our employees have a long tradition of supporting and volunteering, improving the overall quality of life. The DP&L Foundation and DP&L annually donate more than $2.5 million, supporting community and economic development; fostering STEM education; and giving back through targeted, impactful philanthropy.
In partnership with our communities and local and regional economic development organizations, DP&L invests in economic development programs, attracting new investments to the region, retain existing businesses by enabling them to remain competitive, create jobs and a job-ready workforce.
Helping You Save Money & Energy
We are proud of our performance in delivering cost-effective energy efficiency programs for our customers.
In the last year, DP&L and its customers saved 1.2 billion kilowatt hours and almost 200 thousand kilowatts from 2009 through 2015. To put that in perspective, that is enough energy to power almost 100,000 homes for a year, equals the capacity of two and a half natural gas combustion turbines, and has the same positive environmental impact as taking 181,065 cars off the highway.
