April 2013

This April, we are profiling businesses across Ohio who have helped make the Buckeye State 2nd in the nation in biobased manufacturing in our "Ohio BioProducts" theme. Bioproducts are made from natural and renewable biological resources to replace petroleum-based materials used in manufacturing. Kutol Products Company, Inc., in Hamilton County, make a wide variety of hand soaps and sanitizers containing biobased ingredients and are one of the only LEED® Silver certified manufacturing plants in the facility management industry. Plastic Suppliers, Inc., in Franklin County, have been manufacturing innovative, high quality plastic films and sheets for over 60 years, with their EarthFirst brand made from annually renewable resources. Spartan Chemical Company, Inc., in Lucas County, is a leading global manufacturer of chemical specialty maintenance products and their BioRenewables line offers consumers an environmentally-friendly option for commercial cleaning. USA Soy Solutions, LLC/ BioBased Spray Systems, LLC, both operating out of Shelby County, create ag-based lubricants, hydraulic fluids and the patented BIORESTOR product, made from soybean oil, that helps protect asphalt pavements from Ohio to Florida. The biobased industry is thriving in Ohio, with dozens of biobased companies manufacturing more than 1,200 different products, and these companies are helping pave the "natural and renewable" way.
