The Columbus Foundation

DESCRIPTION OF BUSINESS:

The Columbus Foundation serves as the trusted philanthropic advisor to individuals, families, and businesses that want to strengthen the community through charitable funds that support their interests. With donors in 55 Ohio counties and 37 states, the Foundation is the seventh largest community foundation in the United States, with $1.7 billion in assets held in more than 2,000 funds and foundations. Since its inception in 1943, the Foundation and its donors have granted more than $1.37 billion to nonprofits.

The Foundation is committed to strengthening the nonprofit sector in central Ohio, and one of the ways it does so is by supporting the Summer Fellowship Program, which engages the next generation of young leaders in the sector through career-related work. Now in its sixth year, the program places a limited number of students with Franklin County nonprofit organizations for a paid 10-week fellowship. College juniors, seniors, recent graduates, and graduate students that attended a Franklin County college or university, or graduated from a Franklin County high school, can apply. In addition to the Fellows helping host organizations advance their missions and learning immeasurable new skills, it is the Foundation’s goal to inspire the next generation of leaders to commit to serving the nonprofit sector in central Ohio.
