Ohio Military and Overseas Voter Updates

Dear Military Members and Overseas Voters:

The November 6, 2018 General Election is just around the corner. The ballot will contain candidates for statewide, district, and county races, one statewide issue and local questions and issues.

Ballots for military and overseas voters are available beginning September 22, 2018. If you have not requested a ballot already, please remember to submit your Federal Post Card Application (FPCA) soon.

Completing the FPCA Form

  1. Fill out the Federal Post Card Application (FPCA) to register to vote and to request your ballot. It is a dual-purpose form. You can access the FPCA form here https://www.fvap.gov/uploads/FVAP/Forms/fpca.pdf  or use the Ohio automated assistant available here https://ohio.overseasvotefoundation.org/vote/home.htm to complete the form.
  2. Simply, fill it out, print it, and sign it. If you plan to email your form, scan it or take a picture of it. 
  3. Return the FPCA to the your county board of elections by email, fax or mail to your county board of elections – see directory with contact information here: https://www.sos.state.oh.us/elections/elections-officials/county-boards-of-elections-directory/#gref

Email is the quickest way! Submitting your FPCA via email and requesting that your ballot be emailed to you is strongly recommended.


  • If you are registering to vote or updating your voter registration information, a properly completed FPCA must be postmarked or received by Tuesday, October 9, 2018.
  • If you are already registered to vote at the correct address and you just need to request your absentee ballot, your FPCA must be received by 12:00 noon on Saturday, November 3, 2018.

Track the status of your ballot
As a military or overseas voter, you may receive your absentee ballot by email, fax or mail. Check the status by visiting www.MyOhioVote.com.
