Voting Begins Today for Overseas Voters

COLUMBUS – Today, Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose today announced voting for military and overseas voters begins today, Friday, March 22, 2019 for the upcoming Primary/Special Election scheduled for May 7.

“Beginning today, the men and women serving our nation overseas have the opportunity to have their voice heard here at home,” said LaRose. “Whether you’re a student, in the military, or representing the United States in another capacity – it’s easier than ever to vote.”

Military voters who have not yet registered to vote or submitted a request for an absentee ballot may still do so by visiting OhioMilitaryVotes.com, while overseas voters can visit OhioVoterPassport.com. There they can download the Federal Post Card Application, register to vote & request an absentee ballot, read through frequently asked questions, and track the status of their mailed ballot.

In May, voters will weigh-in on a total of 278 local issues across 68 counties. Additionally, there will be a number of local races, and voters can obtain additional information about these contests by contacting their county board of elections.

Absentee Voting by Mail and In-Person
All Ohio voters may begin voting on April 9 (first day after the close of registration) via in-person and by mail-in absentee ballot. For more information, visit MyOhioVote.com.

Register to Vote/Update Your Address
The deadline to register to vote or update an existing registration ahead of the May 7 Primary Election is April 8 (30 days before the election). Voters may go to MyOhioVote.com/VoterRegistration to register online or update an existing registration. Voter registration forms can also be printed from MyOhioVote.com or obtained from a local library or board of elections office.

Voter Toolkit
The online Voter Toolkit is a one-stop location for all necessary voting information. Ohio voters can visit MyOhioVote.com/VoterToolkit to check their voter registration status, find their polling location, view their sample ballot and track their absentee ballot.
