Statement From Secretary LaRose on Introduction of Senate Bill 30

COLUMBUS – Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose released a statement in response to the Ohio Senate’s introduction of Senate Bill 30, legislation that will create a Women's Suffrage Centennial Commission. The following may be attributed to Secretary LaRose.

“I want to thank Senate President Obhof, Senator Williams, and Senator Kunze for introducing Senate Bill 30, and starting the process to implement the Women’s Suffrage Centennial Commission as Ohio prepares to celebrate the 100th anniversary of women finally winning the right to vote.

“For decades, Ohio women fought for a right that so many today take for granted. As we honor the grit and determination it took to make the 19th amendment a reality, we’re provided another opportunity to inspire Ohioans young and old about just how special the right to vote is as we continue the grand experiment that is America.

“I’m hopeful that this worthwhile legislation will be swiftly passed by the General Assembly and signed into law by Governor DeWine.”
