Notice of Meetings: Voting Machine Acquisition Advisory Committee

This shall serve as notice of two meetings to be held by the Voting Machine Acquisition Advisory Committee.

The first meeting shall be held on Friday, August 24, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the South B & C Conference Rooms located on the 31st Floor of the Riffe Center at 77 South High St., Columbus, Ohio, 43215. The second meeting shall be held on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Franklin County Board of Elections, 1700 Morse Rd., Columbus, Ohio, 43229.

Please be advised that the Voting Machine Acquisition Advisory Committee is a temporary committee that has been formed pursuant to Am. Sub. Senate Bill 135 (132nd Ohio General Assembly), the Voting Equipment Acquisition Program. As outlined in Am. Sub. Senate Bill 135, the Committee must meet at the call of the Ohio Secretary of State “to advise the Secretary of State and Department of Administrative Services in the acquisition and funding of new voting systems, as approved by the Board of Voting Machine Examiners under section 3506.06 of the Revised Code, for Ohio counties.”

At the August 24, 2018 meeting, the Committee expects to receive testimony on the process for collecting bids for voting systems and the procurement process from the Ohio Department of Administrative Services (DAS). The Committee also expects to receive testimony on the funding program and what expenses are covered under the program from the Ohio Office of Budget and Management (OBM).

At the September 5, 2018 meeting, the Committee expects to make recommendations and finalize its advice to the Secretary of State and the Department of Administrative Services in the acquisition and funding of new voting systems, as approved by the Board of Voting Machine Examiners, for Ohio counties.

These meetings are open to the public.
