COLUMBUS– Secretary of State Jon Husted today appointed David Karmol as a member of the Lucas County Board of Elections. Mr. Karmol will fill the unexpired term of James Hartley.
"The appointment of Mr. Karmol today is a positive step towards restoring order and professionalism to the Lucas County Board of elections," Secretary Husted said. "Restoring trust takes time, but I am hopeful that this appointment is a good beginning of that process in Lucas County."
State law requires bipartisan representation on each of Ohio’s 88 county boards of elections. Each board is made up of two Republican members and two Democratic members, all of whom must be qualified electors in the counties for which they serve. The Secretary of State appoints board of elections members based on the recommendations of the executive committees of the respective county political parties and who he believes will be competent members of the board.
