Husted Sets New Hearing for Suspended Lucas County Board of Elections Member

COLUMBUS- Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted today announced that Lucas County Board of Elections member James Hartley is required to attend a hearing at the Secretary of State’s Office Monday, April 10, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. Mark Landes, a partner at Isaac Wiles, will preside over the hearing.

This hearing was initially scheduled for this morning, Friday, April 7th, but was postponed at Mr. Hartley’s request due to a change in his legal representation.

Secretary Husted suspended Mr. Hartley on March 28, 2017, following “an emerging pattern of irresponsible behavior.” You can read Secretary Husted’s full letter of suspension of Mr. Hartley by clicking here.

As hearing officer, Mr. Landes will oversee the proceedings and present his recommendations to Secretary Husted. The Secretary will make the final decision as to what further action, if any, is warranted.
