Statement from Secretary Husted on NEOCH Motion for Emergency Stay

COLUMBUS - Following a ruling by the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals last month in Case Number 16-3603, The Northeast Ohio Coalition for the Homeless v. Husted, plaintiffs today have filed with the Supreme Court of the United States seeking an emergency stay. The following may be attributed directly to Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted:

“More than a month ago, a federal appeals court issued a reasonable ruling in this case. However, it is clear that unreasonable people will not accept a reasonable approach.

“Elections officials need a way to confirm that a person is a qualified, eligible voter before counting a ballot – and the appeals court agreed.

“With Election Day now less than two weeks away, I am hopeful the court will see this latest filing for what it is; an 11th hour attempt to inject chaos into Ohio’s election.”
