Husted Statement on NEOCH Absentee & Provisional Ballot Ruling

COLUMBUS –The 6th Circuit Court of Appeals today issued a ruling in Case Number 16-3603, The Northeast Ohio Coalition for the Homeless v. Husted, previously ruled on by U.S. District Court Judge Algenon L. Marbley in June of this year. The following may be attributed directly to Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted:

"We are working through the details of this ruling, but upon our initial review, we believe it to be a reasonable outcome.

"The most important issue in this case was to ensure that voters who cast an absentee or provisional ballot have to provide identifying information to make certain they are legally registered to vote. This ruling upholds Ohio law in that respect so that we can protect the integrity of elections in Ohio.

"Ohio voters received two good outcomes in one day from the federal courts. Hopefully this will help restore a little peace in chaotic election year."
