Secretary Husted certifies the results from the 2016 Presidential Primary Election
COLUMBUS – Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted today certified the official results of the 2016 Presidential Primary Election. The Secretary’s signature today marks the completion of the official canvass.
Finalized today were the results in the election of delegates to the Democratic and Republican National Conventions and nominees for the U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives and Ohio Supreme Court. The official results in these races are now available via the link below.
Certified, final results for local races are available by contacting the corresponding county board of elections. A list of all 88 county boards of election is available here. The Local Issues Report will become available in the coming days.
The Provisional and Absentee Ballot Reports are also now available on the Secretary of State’s website for download.
“Due to our efforts to improve the accuracy of the voter rolls and to use technology to streamline the process, we continue to see fewer problems at the polls and more ballots being counted, further proving we’ve made it easier to vote and harder to cheat in Ohio,” Secretary Husted said.
Data shows that fewer provisional ballots have been cast in the 11 statewide election cycles since Secretary Husted took office than were cast during the eight election cycles under the previous administration. This further proves that responsible voter roll maintenance creates less confusion at the polls on Election Day as more voters can cast a traditional ballot.
In addition to fewer provisional ballots being cast, a larger percentage of both provisional and absentee ballots are being counted under Secretary Husted when compared to the previous administration.
