Election Advisory: Deadline to Register to Vote is One Week Away

COLUMBUS – Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted today reminded voters that the deadline to register to vote in the November 3, 2015 General Election is one week away, on October 5. Important dates to remember for this election are outlined below.

1736 local issues, including levies for police and fire services as well as school funding, will appear on ballots across Ohio. 

Register to Vote/Update Your Address
The deadline to register to vote in the November 3, 2015 General Election is October 5th (30 days before the election). Voter registration forms are available at Voters who need to update their address also have until October 5th, and can use the Online Change of Address System available at

Military & Overseas Voting
Ballots for military and overseas voters became available on September 19th. Military voters who have not yet registered to vote or submitted a request for an absentee ballot may still do so by visiting or for overseas voters. There they can download the Federal Post Card Application, register to vote and request an absentee ballot, read through frequently asked questions, track the status of their mailed ballot and sign up for election reminders via email and social media. All voters can also contact their county board of elections directly for more information.

Absentee Voting by Mail and In-Person
Ohio voters may begin casting absentee ballots on October 6, 2015 (first day after the close of registration) in-person and by mail. For more information, visit
