Statement from Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted
COLUMBUS – Regarding today’s comments from former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton concerning early voting, all of the following may be attributed to Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted:
“In Ohio, it is easy to vote – period.
“With 28 days to vote and the ability to cast a ballot without ever leaving your home, Ohio voters enjoy some of the most generous voting options in the country. For this reason, and many others, our state is a national leader in voter access.
“I am proud of how we run elections in Ohio, ensuring every voter is treated equally and fairly. I would put it up against any other state – including Hillary Clinton’s home state of New York, which only gives all voters one day to cast a ballot.
“Hillary Clinton is calling for a national standard for early voting that is less than what Ohio currently offers. Given this fact, I call on her to tell her attorneys to drop her elections lawsuit against Ohio. Stop wasting Ohioans tax dollars defending your frivolous lawsuits.”
Ohio’s voting rules have received national recognition and the generous number of days and hours are supported by the NAACP, League of Women Voters and the ACLU. You can read more here. You can view Ohio’s early voting schedule here.
