Statement from Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted

COLUMBUS – In response to the introduction of Senate Bill 63 by State Senator Frank LaRose (R-Copley), which seeks to establish an online voter registration system and improve the exchange of voter data among state agencies – innovations which Secretary of State Jon Husted has long advocated, Secretary Husted released the following statement:

“Online voter registration is another important step in ensuring it remains easy to vote and hard to cheat in Ohio. Allowing Ohioans to register online is more secure, convenient and accurate than traditional paper forms and will save taxpayers money.

“Online registration is an important election reform supported by Democrats and Republicans across the nation. It is time for Ohio to get it done.

“I commend Senator LaRose for his work on this matter and urge the legislature to give immediate consideration to this proposal.”
