Secretary of State Husted Tapped Again For National Association of Secretaries of State Committee Leadership
COLUMBUS – The National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS) has once again selected Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted to serve as co-chair of the Standing Committee on Elections for 2014-2015. Secretary Husted previously served as co-chair of this committee in 2011.
“It is an honor to be asked again to serve my peers in this capacity,” Secretary Husted said. “I look forward to working with other secretaries of state on important issues that impact how we run elections in Ohio and throughout the nation.”
The Elections Committee is dedicated to educating and informing NASS members about state election administration practices and laws, as well as tracking proposed federal legislation and election reform proposals submitted by national organizations and/or secretaries. This committee also follows the activities of relevant federal agencies and congressional committees. When appropriate, NASS committees will develop policy positions for consideration by the full membership.
Each NASS committee has bipartisan leadership, with one Democrat and one Republican appointed to serve as co-chairs. Secretary Husted will co-chair the Standing Committee on Elections with Montana Secretary of State Linda McCulloch.
“NASS committees are the foundation for state-based collaboration and information-sharing, and we are fortunate to have so many seasoned, capable leaders who can help us develop our issue priorities for the coming year,” remarked NASS President and Oregon Secretary of State Kate Brown, who appointed the bipartisan slate of state officials. “We are grateful for their willingness to step up and share their expertise in the many different policy areas that matter to secretary of state offices.”
Secretary Husted will join fellow Secretaries of State from around the nation this week in Washington D.C. for the NASS 2015 Winter Conference.
