Secretary of State Husted to Mark Democracy Day, Kick Off Grads Vote During Visit to Portage County

COLUMBUS – Secretary of State Jon Husted will travel to Windham High School tomorrow, Wednesday, March 26, 2014, to celebrate Democracy Day and kick off Grads Vote 2014.

Both Democracy Day and Grads Vote work to increase the number of 18-year-olds registered to vote and who participate in elections. Democracy Day, launched in 2009 by Rock the Vote, educates students about elections and the importance of their participation in that process. Grads Vote is an outreach effort promoted by Secretary Husted that provides all graduating high school seniors with the information needed to become an active Ohio voter.

The deadline to register to vote in this year’s May 6th Primary Election is April 7, 2014, and the deadline for the November 4th General Election is October 6, 2014. Individuals looking to get registered must be 18 by the General Election and complete a voter registration form. Registration forms and additional information are available online at GradsVoteOhio.com.
