Secretary of State Husted Announces Ohio Ballot Board Meeting

COLUMBUS – Secretary of State Jon Husted has called a meeting of the Ohio Ballot Board for Wednesday, August 3, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. in the Finan Finance Hearing Room of the Ohio Statehouse, located on the first floor of the Senate Building at 1 Capitol Square, Columbus, Ohio, 43215.

The Ballot Board will meet to consider and certify the ballot language for potentially three statewide issues appearing on the November ballot. Specifically, the board will receive public comment on the ballot language and explanation for House Joint Resolution 1 - Judicial Age Limit Increase Constitutional Amendment proposed by the General Assembly, as well as on the ballot language for the Senate Bill 5 Referendum. The Board will also receive public comment on the ballot language for the Health Care Freedom Act Constitutional Amendment proposed by initiative petition, which will appear on the ballot provided the issue is certified with enough valid signatures. The Secretary has until July 26th to determine if the issue has the required signatures.

Secretary Husted serves as chair of the Ballot Board and oversees the board’s proceedings. Other members of the Ballot Board include: Rebecca L. Egelhoff, Esq.; State Senator Keith Faber; William N. Morgan; and Fred Strahorn. Ballot Board meetings are open to the public.
