9/19/2013 Secretary of State Husted To Speak at Presidential Commission on Election Administration The Presidential Commission on Election Administration was establish by the Executive Order in March of 2013. Chaired by the former general counsels of the Obama and Romney presidential campaigns, the goal is to identify best practices in election administration and to provide recommendations to improve the voting experience.

9/16/2013 Secretary of State Husted Releases New Business Filing Figures for August 2013 The Secretary of State’s office has assisted with 62,323 new business filings to date in 2013 (January-August). This is an increase from the same time period last year, in which there were 60,069 new business filings.

9/16/2013 Secretary of State Husted Announces Ballot Board Meeting As required by Ohio law, the Ballot Board will meet to determine whether a proposed initiated statute regarding Medicaid consists of only one proposed law. The Ballot Board has 10 days from the date the certification is received from the attorney general to complete this task.

9/3/2013 Secretary of State Husted Received Petitions for Referendum on House Bill 7 Earlier this afternoon, petitioners seeking a referendum on House Bill 7 purported filing 433,884 signatures with Secretary of State Jon Husted’s office. The Secretary of State’s office must now determine if petitioners have gathered the required number of valid signatures – 231,148 or six percent of the total vote cast for Governor in 2010. Secretary Husted directed county boards of election to complete the validation of signatures by Friday, September 20, 2013. The issue would appear on the November 2014 ballot provided petitioners have met the constitutional requirements.

3/26/2013 Secretary of State Husted to Visit Horizon Science Academy of Dayton, Talk to Students About Voting Secretary of State Jon Husted will be traveling to Horizon Science Academy of Dayton tomorrow, Wednesday, March 27, 2013, for his 2013 Grads Vote program. Secretary Husted hopes this program will help increase the number of 18-year-olds who are registered to vote in Ohio.

2/25/2013 Secretary of State Husted Announces Adjusted Campaign Contribution Limits In accordance with R.C. 3517.104, campaign contribution limits are adjusted for inflation in each odd numbered year by the Ohio Secretary of State’s office. Adjustments are based on the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers and certified by the Auditor of State.

Award recipients at the Ohio Association of Election Officials Conference. Local boards of elections were asked to submit their Bright I.D.E.A.’s to the Secretary of State prior to the conference.

1/9/2013 Ohio Secretary of State Husted Releases Absentee and Provisional Ballot Reports for 2012 Presidential Election Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted today released reports for absentee and provisional ballots cast in the 2012 Presidential Election. These reports show that a record number of absentee ballots, 1.86 million, were cast and counted, and a higher percentage of provisional ballots were counted than in prior presidential elections.
