To help entrepreneurs navigate the various types of filings required to establish a business in Ohio, the Secretary of State’s office offers several useful publications. Filing Made Easy
For the first time in Ohio, many required business filings with the Secretary of State’s office can now be completed online. Ohio Business Central provides access to many commonly-used forms, streamlining the process for business owners. Forms currently available for online completion include:
- Statement of Continued Existence: Foreign / Domestic (Form 522)
- Biennial Report: Professional Association / Limited Liability Partnership (Form 520)
- Renewal of Trade Name or Fictitious Name Registration (Form 523A)
Certificates of Good Standing and Full Force and Effect Certificates can also be ordered using this site.
Secretary of State Jon Husted is committed to making the business filing process in Ohio as easy and efficient as possible. Many other filing forms, including those to register your business, will be available for online completion at Ohio Business Central soon.
All current business filing forms can also be accessed on the Secretary of State's website.
Additionally, Ohio was one of the first states to adopt new Uniform Commercial Code forms that went into effect on July 1, 2013. These forms help lenders protect their rights to collateral offered in a loan transaction.
