Ohio Leading the Way
New Business Filings on the Rise
2012 was a record year for new business filings in Ohio, and it looks like 2013 will be even better. The Secretary of State's office has assisted with 82,794 new business filings so far this year (January-November). This is an increase from the same time period last year, in which there were 81,093 new business filings. Ohio is a great place to do business, and apparently the word is getting out.
New business filings are classified as forms filed with the Ohio Secretary of State that declare the formation of a business entity, including for-profit, non-profit and professional corporations, limited liability companies, partnerships, limited partnerships and limited liability partnerships. Filing as a business in Ohio does not guarantee the company will begin operations, be profitable or create jobs.
