Statement From Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted
Regarding today’s decision by the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals related to Ohio’s provisional ballot law, all of the following may be attributed to Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted:
“I am extremely pleased that the Court of Appeals agreed with me that we must have a valid, legal signature on all provisional ballots.
This is an election integrity issue. Under Ohio law, a voter’s legal signature is one of the primary means by which county boards of elections can verify voters and legally-cast ballots, whether you are talking about provisional ballots, absentee ballots, poll books or petitions. In reversing the lower court’s decision the Court upheld this important standard in state law.”
