Fifteen States to Stand With Ohio on Federal Court Overreach Into State Election Laws
The attorneys general filed a joint amicus brief with the U.S. Supreme Court this evening in support of Secretary Husted’s recent appeal of a Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals’ decision in Obama v. Husted. States signing on include Alabama, Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Kansas, Maine, Michigan, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Virginia and Wisconsin.

Secretary of State Husted: Online Change of Address Tool Used by More Than 106,000 Ohio Voters
Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted today announced that from August 9th through the close of registration yesterday, more than 106,000 Ohio voters used a new online service to update their voting addresses online. This tool, housed at www.MyOhioVote.com, made it easier for voters to update their voting information so they will be able to vote a regular rather than a provisional ballot on Election Day.

Secretary Husted: Absentee Ballot Requests Top One Million
Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted today announced that Ohio’s county boards of elections have received more than 1.1 million requests to vote by mail, including more than 13,000 requests for military and overseas ballots. In addition, more than 59,000 Ohio voters have already cast their ballots early at their local board of elections or designated absentee voting centers.

Secretary Husted to Appeal Federal Court Decision to the U.S. Supreme Court
Secretary of State Jon Husted today announced that he will ask the U.S. Supreme Court to make the final determination on whether the General Assembly of the State of Ohio or the federal courts should set Ohio election laws. Husted will be appealing the Friday decision by the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals in Obama v. Husted.

Secretary of State Jon Husted: Ballots for Military & Overseas Voters To Go Out Tomorrow
Under state and federal law, county boards must mail, e-mail or fax absentee ballots to registered military and overseas voters who have requested them on Saturday, September 22 -- 45 days ahead of the general election. From there on, boards will continue to send military and overseas ballots as they receive requests and in the manner requested. While ballots can be sent electronically, completed ballots must be signed and returned by mail.

Secretary of State Husted Launches New Online Change of Address Tool for Ohio Voters
Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted today launched a new online service that allows Ohio’s registered voters to update their voting address online. This new tool, housed at www.MyOhioVote.com, will help voters in meeting their primary responsibility: To be registered at their current addresses 30 days prior to an election. Additionally, reducing manual data entry at Ohio’s boards of elections will save tax dollars and improve the accuracy and security of Ohio’s voter rolls.

Secretary of State Husted Expands “Vote in Honor of a Veteran” Program
Through Vote in Honor of a Veteran, Ohio voters have the opportunity to share their pride and love for an individual who has served in the military by dedicating their votes to them. Each voter who participates in the program receives a special Vote in Honor of a Veteran lapel pin to wear with pride on Election Day. Approximately 4,000 Ohioans have already signed up to dedicate their votes.

Secretary of State Husted Honors Northwest Ohio Board of Elections Officials Tom Wolfrum and Dan Wagner
Secretary of State Jon Husted recently presented Tom Wolfrum and Dan Wagner, two devoted Defiance County precinct elections officials (PEO) with the “Red Carpet Award.” Presented quarterly, the award recognizes the outstanding service and dedication of PEOs to their local communities. Mr. Wolfrum and Mr. Wagner have nearly 13 years of combined service at the polls, Wolfrum with seven years and Wagner with six years.

Ballot Board Decides Labor Organization Amendment Is Single Issue
Petitioners will now need to collect 385,253 signatures, which is equal to 10 percent of the total vote cast for governor in 2010, to place the measure on the ballot. As part of the total number of signatures needed, petitioners must also collect signatures from at least 44 of Ohio’s 88 counties, and within each of those counties, collect enough signatures equal to five percent of the total vote cast for governor in the most recent gubernatorial election, 2010.
