COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted today released the 2011 Adjusted Campaign Contribution Limits for the State of Ohio which take effect February 25, 2011.

“With new contribution limits in place, it’s important to make candidates, voters and all participants in the system aware of the change to encourage adherence to the law and the kind of campaign finance transparency needed for a successful democracy,” said Secretary Husted.

In accordance with R.C. 3517.104, campaign contribution limits are adjusted for inflation in each odd numbered year by the Ohio Secretary of State’s office. Adjustments are based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for All Urban Consumers and certified by the Auditor of State.

Per the statutory formula, current contribution limits were multiplied by the one and three-tenths percent (1.3%) increase in the Consumer Price Index from 2008 to 2010 and the product was then added to the existing contribution limits. The limits will remain in effect until February of 2013, when the next adjustment is scheduled. The numbers are no longer rounded due to changes made in House Bill 1 of the 126th General Assembly, Special Session.
