Voting Initiatives

The Secretary of State is responsible for overseeing the elections process in Ohio. In addition to supervising how elections are carried out, the Secretary also plays a role in educating Ohioans about the responsibilities that come along with their right to vote.

The Secretary of State's office has launched several voter education initiatives reaching out to different groups of Ohioans to encourage them to responsibly exercise their right to vote.

Grads Vote Ohio Grads Vote Ohio: The Grads Vote Ohio initiative seeks to register and educate Ohio's newest voters on their responsibilities as full participants in our democracy. The program also provides information on how they can vote while away at college and how they can take their involvement to the next level by serving at Ohio’s polling places on Election Day as precinct election officials.
Grads Vote Ohio Vote in Honor of a Veteran: Vote in Honor of a Veteran recognizes the service of our brave veterans by allowing Ohioans to dedicate their votes to a special veteran on Election Day. Participants can share a tribute and photos of their honored veteran on the Secretary of State's website and Facebook page (OhioSOSHusted) and receive a pin to wear on Election Day.
Grads Vote Ohio Military Ready-to-Vote: Featuring web, print and social media components, Military Ready-to-Vote makes it easy for Ohio soldiers on active duty to register and vote, get reminders about upcoming elections and important deadlines, and get other voting questions answered all in one place.
Grads Vote Ohio Reshape Ohio: Every 10 years, following the decennial census, Ohio General Assembly and Congressional districts are redrawn to reflect changes in the state’s population. Through Reshape Ohio, Ohioans were able to participate by submitting maps for consideration for the 2011 redistricting process.
Be a P.E.O. in Ohio Be a P.E.O. in Ohio: On Election Day, Ohio voters depend on precinct election officials to run their local precinct polling locations. The Be a P.E.O. in Ohio program reaches out to various groups to encourage Ohioans to join the ranks of ensuring voters can have confidence in the way their local elections are run.
Ohio Voter Passport Ohio Voter Passport: OVP gives Ohioans abroad what they need to participate in the election process. The Ohio Voter Passport explains how Ohioans can vote from overseas and stay informed.
