The East and West coasts are often considered more forward-thinking when it comes to energy efficiency, so we are proud of the product and services we provide and our commitment to being a net-zero energy facility. We are proving that energy efficiency works.

What makes Melink interesting is that our corporate headquarters is Energy Star rated 99, LEED Platinum EB and net-zero energy, meaning we put as much energy back on the grid as we use. We've done this through use of renewable energy such as solar and wind, and by using energy offsets such as biomass stoves, geothermal heat pumps and solar thermal systems.

We keep a lower set-point on our thermostat than most office buildings and use natural lighting. When needed, we have task lighting at desks and T-8 lights throughout the building, and a majority of lights are on timers. We reuse, recycle or compost 92% of our waste and provide a fleet of Prius cars for our technicians, sales and executive teams.

Most recently, we've installed a lead-acid and lithium-ion battery storage system to reduce peak-demand charges in the summer and winter as well as a car-charging system for the company owner's new Volt electric car. To achieve these goals took hard work and the commitment of every Melink employee and a very special corporate culture.
