Description of business: IVS founder and President Patrick McDonald is a US Army veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom, and proudly served starting in 1988 up until 2006.
IVS's beginnings trace back to an online T-shirt store that McDonald's wife opened to provide a job opportunity for their disabled son Nick, who was bedridden due to uchene’s Muscular Dystrophy. After his death in 2007, she expanded the Nick's Novel-Tees business and began looking for ways to diversify it. "It was 2:30 a.m. and I couldn't sleep; the wheels in my head kept spinning," recalled McDonald. "I thought, something mobile that could move from location to location, and wherever it worked it worked, and if it didn't, we'd move it -- vending! We could put it in remote areas and expand without opening a brick-and-mortar store."
