What do you like about doing business in Ohio? It’s an honor to serve my neighbors, friends and family.
Description of business: The New Heights Educational Group, a non-profit organization, located in Defiance, Ohio, was established in 2006 by Founder/Executive Director Pamela S. Clark, with the goal of promoting literacy for children and adults by offering a range of educational support services. Such services include assisting families in the selection of schools, organization of educational activities, and acquisition of materials.
The organization was conceived out of a necessity Mrs. Clark saw in improving the education of her children. She explored many options including home schooling, charter schools and local public schools. Through her involvement with these school systems, Mrs. Clark not only found strengths and weaknesses in these systems that affected the learning ability of her children, but she also met other families asking similar questions in an attempt to improve the educational experiences of their own children. Mrs. Clark discovered the families were able to help each other, especially in understanding how to teach children with learning difficulties such as ADHD, Bi-Polar disorder, Autism, neurological disorders, processing and disorders. This experience gave credibility to Mrs. Clark's vision of one day having a resource and literacy center which would function as a place for families to come for educational helps and supports.
During its operation, New Heights has grown and has been able to clearly define a literacy program that is suitable for all ages, promoting a healthy learning environment and enrichment programs for families of preschool and school-age children, including children with special needs. It is the goal of the organization to keep services available to all families with educational needs.
