Key Upcoming Election and Campaign Finance Dates
April 23 Pre-primary election campaign finance reports must be filed by candidates, political action committees, caucus committees (legislative campaign funds) and political parties by 4 p.m. (12 days before the election) detailing contributions and expenditures through April 15 (20 days before the election.)
April 24 Deadline for political parties, groups of candidates and issue committees to file notice of observer appointments (11 days before the election.)
April 25 Boards of elections must give public notice of election (10 days before the election.)
May 5 Primary Election Day. Polls are open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
May 15 Absentee ballots returned by U.S. Mail from within the United States must be postmarked not later than May 4 and received by boards of elections by this date to be counted (10 days after the election.)
May 15 Out-of-country civilian absentee ballots must be postmarked or signed on or before the close of polls on May 5 and received by boards of elections by this date to be counted (10 days after the election.)
May 15 Out-of-country armed service absentee ballots must be signed on or before the close of polls on May 5 and received by county boards of elections by this date to be counted (10 days after the election.)
